THE FAMILY HOME OF THE PAINTER AUGUSTIN NĚMEJC IN NEPOMUK

The Family Home of Augustin Němejc,where the gallery of his paintings developed, belongs without any doubt to interesting places you can visit in Nepomuk. The Home gained significant financial support from the European Fund for regional development within the project „Nepomuk, reconstruction of the Family Home of Augustin Němejc“ and it was opened to the public in June 2010.

In the gallery there are put together more than seventy works of this painter,most of them come from the private collection, others are lent from for example the West Bohemian Gallery or the West Bohemian Museum.The paintings represent typical painter´s works – figures in costumes, motifs from country people´s life, public festivals and portraits.

Furhemore, you can see a lot of documents from A.Němejc´s life and a reproduction of his most famous work – the curtain , the original of which you can find in the J. K. Tyl´s Theatre.

On the day of the 150 anniversary /March 15, 2011/ of Professor Augustin Němejc´s birth a new memorial plague on his Home was unveiled and a new bronze bust was insalled inside. The sculptor Václav Česák is the author of thirty-kilo bronze bust, in production of it Pilsen region took part with the amount of 105,000 crowns. The artist Václav Fiala from Klatovy made the granite slab.

In the attic of the Home there is also a painter´s studio where interested persons in a course of painting can come. Thanks to the reconstruction there were built rooms for other cultural activities – for example smaller music performances, theatrical performances for children and adults, lectures, showing photographs etc.
